Overview

Simatai Great Wall is characterized by delicate and unique design and diversified structures, it incorporates a variety of styles of other parts of the Great Wall and is thus reputed as the “Museum of the Great Wall”. Gubei Water Town is located at the foot of the Simatai Great Wall, and it used to be an important military site guarding the northeast part of Beijing. Surrounded by the beautiful Mandarin Lake Reservoir, Gubeikou water town owns its reputation as a “northern China Water Town.”  It boasts a great combination of mountains, water, ancient village, and folk cultural activities.

Itinerary
Day 1Sunset at Simatai Great Wall and Gubei Water Town

13:00 Pick up from the hotel lobby and drive to the Gubei Water Town (140km, about 2.5 hours driving).


15:30-17:30 Exploring the Gubei Water Town.  Taste traditional processing local rice wine in Sima Brewery, learn how to make the original ecological dyeing in Yongshun Dyeing House， experience the school life of ancient scholars in Yinghua Academy, worship the soldiers who devote to guarding the Great Wall in the Yang Wudi ancestral hall and studying the ancient bodyguard culture in Henyuan Bodyguard Bureau, etc.  Your guide will assist you in finding a nice restaurant to have dinner at your own cost (about 2 hours).


17:30-19:00 Arrive at the foot of the Simatai Great Wall.  For safety reasons at night, the Simatai administration only allowed a cable car up and down and opened No.5 and No.6 watchtowers to the visitors.  You can enjoy the panoramic view of the Gubei Water Town and sunset at the Simatai Great Wall.


21:00 Arrive the hotel and ended a wonderful day (about 2 hours drive).
