Overview
The Summer Palace is located in the northwest suburbs of Beijing. It was built during the 15th reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing dynasty（1750 A.D). Being a summer resort where the emperors of the Qing Dynasty enjoyed themselves and ruled China in summer, it was named the Summer Palace. Occupying an area of 290 hectares, it is the most extensive and best-preserved garden in China.

Day 12-hour Discover Summer Palace in depth Group Tour
9:00 Meet your guide at the East Palace Gate (东宫门) of the Summer Palace.
By tax: show the taxi driver “请带我去颐和园东宫门.”
By subway, take subway line 4 to “XiYuan”(西苑站）, come out from exit C2 (southwest exit). Then walk about 950 meters (about 14 mins walk) to the East Palace Gate of the Summer Palace.
Built on the base of Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill, the Summer Palace is divided into three sections according to their functions - the administrative, imperial, and scenic areas.
Our group will dismiss at the North Gate. You can continue touring inside the Summer Palace or take the subway to other destinations.
