9:00-12:00 Visit the National museum of China. National museum of China was firstly built in 1959, and consists two parts, the Museum of Chinese History and the Museum of Chinese Revolution. The two museums merged and officially became the National Museum of China in 2003. It covers an area of 200,000 square meters, it is the one of the largest museums in the world. National Museum has four floors above ground and one floor underground, with 49 exhibition halls, and has a collection of over 1.4 million items. Besides to the short-term exhibitions, the permanent essential exhibitions are "Ancient China" and "The Road to Rejuvenation".
The Ancient China Exhibition covering Chinese history from the Yuanmou Man of 1.7 million years ago to the end of the Qing dynasty (the last imperial dynasty in Chinese history), has a permanent collection of 2520 items, with many precious and rare artifacts not to be found in museums anywhere else in China or the rest of the world.
