Overview

The Summer Palace is located in the northwest suburbs of Beijing. It was built during the 15th reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing dynasty1750 A.D). Being a summer resort where the emperors of the Qing Dynasty enjoyed themselves and ruled China in summer, it was named the Summer Palace. Occupying an area of 290 hectares, it is the most extensive and best-preserved garden in China ( Beijing International Airport T2 or T3 - Summer Palace is about a 1-hour drive, Beijing Daxing International Airport - Summer Palace is 1.5 hours drive).


Mutianyu Great Wall is one of the most popular sections Great Wall in Beijing. Originally it was built some 1400 years ago in the Northern Qi Dynasty and later rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty in the 16th century. Here the mountains are densely covered by verdant plants and trees. With vegetation, green pines, and cypresses covering 90 percent of the area, the scenery here is beautiful all year round ( Beijing International Airport T2 or T3 - Mutianyu Great Wall is about 1 hour's drive, Beijing Daxing International Airport - Mutianyu Great Wall is about 2 hours drive).

Itinerary
Day 1Beijing Private Layover Tour to Summer Palace and Mutianyu Great Wall

Your guide and driver will hold your name sign and pick you up from the Beijing International Airport according to your arrival time, then head to Mutianyu Great Wall. Along Mutianyu Great Wall’s 2250-meter span, 22 battlements were built at regular intervals. It is connected with Juyongguan Pass in the west and Gubeikou Gateway in the east. There is quite a long-distance mountain road leading to the Great Wall, and you can choose either a cable car up and down or take the chair lift and toboggan slide down to enjoy more time on the wall.

Your guide will suggest a good local restaurant at your preference and pay on your own.  Then, wander inside the Summer Palace to enjoy the beauty and tranquility.

Drive you back to Beijing International Airport before your departure time or to your downtown hotel.
