The Summer Palace is located in the northwest suburbs of Beijing. It was built during the 15th reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing dynasty（1750 A.D). Being a summer resort where the emperors of the Qing Dynasty enjoyed themselves and ruled China in summer, it was named the Summer Palace. Occupying an area of 290 hectares, it is the most extensive and best-preserved garden in China.

8:30- 12:30 Your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby, then catch a taxi or take public transportation to the Summer Palace. Built on the base of Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill, the Summer Palace is divided into three sections according to their functions - the administrative, imperial, and scenic areas. Your guide will show you the essential highlights of the Summer Palace including the fewer visitors "Garden within the Garden".  After the tour, your guide will help you catch a taxi back to the hotel.
