Visit the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Beijing, explore China's second-largest Confucius temple and the highest state-established educational institution in the last 800 years, wander in two very distinctive artistic areas, and experience how the arts and culture are well blended with those ancient Hutongs and modern factories.
8:30- 9:00 Your guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel lobby and drive to the Yonghegong Lama Temple. (about 30 mins)
9:00-10:30 Yonghegong Lama Temple was initially built as the Prince's Mansion and then converted to the Lama temple by Emperor Qianlong (1735-1796). It comprises exceptional features as its structure contains the architectural styles of both Tibetan and Han Nationalities, including the grand magnificence of an imperial palace and the solemn and respectful atmosphere of an old temple. (about 1.5 hours)
10:45-12:15 It takes 15 mins to walk from Lama temple to the Confucius temple and Imperial College. Confucius's temple was initially built in 1302 in the Yuan Dynasty for rituals offering sacrifice to Confucius during Yuan(1271-1368), Ming(1368-1644), and Qing (1644-1911).
Its close neighbor, the Imperial College, was the heart of China's highest educational administration and the top academy in the last 800 years (about 1.5 hours).
12:30-13:00 Wudaoying Hutong, also known as Wudaoying Camp, was a military camp for Qing dynasty soldiers and later became a residential area for government officials and their families. In recent years, the Wudaoying Hutong has undergone significant changes and is now known as a trendy gathering place for Beijing's young and artistic crowd. The narrow alleyways are lined with small shops, cafes, and galleries, making it a popular destination for those interested in literature, art, and fashion. The area has become known as a hub for the "pretty bourgeoisie," a term used to describe a class of people who are not wealthy but have a taste for the finer things in life, such as boutique shops, specialty coffee, and artisanal products (about 30 mins).
13:30-14:30 Enjoy Dim Sum in the Cantonese restaurant. After lunch, head to the 798 Art Zone. (about 45mins drive)
15:30- 16:30 Enjoy your afternoon time in the 798 Art Zone. The 798 Art Zone is a former industrial complex that has been transformed into a hub for contemporary art and design. The name "798" comes from the factory's original designation as the Joint Factory 798, which was a military electronics factory built in the 1950s. In the 1990s, artists began moving into the abandoned factory buildings and turned them into studios and exhibition spaces. The area quickly became a popular gathering spot for artists and art lovers (about 1 hour) .
17:00 Back to the hotel and ended a wonderful day.
